Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 25, 2026
The short version: Digital Decks has no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind. We do not operate a server that stores your information. Your cards, decks, and player profiles live only on your device. Card photos never leave your phone.
Digital Decks ("we," "our," or "the App") is a Pokémon trading card scanner, collection tracker, and deck builder made for kids and families. This Privacy Policy explains exactly what the App does and does not do with information. It applies to the Digital Decks application for iPhone and iPad.
1. Information We Collect
We collect nothing. Digital Decks has no user accounts, no registration, no login, and no server that stores information about you. We — the developer — never receive your data, because there is nowhere for it to be sent.
The App does store information locally on your device so it can work:
- Player profiles: A name, a picture, and a colour that you choose for each player. These are typed by you and stay on the device. We suggest using a first name or a nickname only.
- Your card collection: Which cards you own, how many of each, and the card details fetched from the card database (name, set, rarity, artwork, price at the time it was added).
- Saved decks: The decks you build and the names you give them.
All of this is stored using Apple's on-device database and is removed when you delete the App.
2. Camera and Card Scanning
Digital Decks uses your device's camera to read the small collector number printed on a card (for example, 4/102). This is how it identifies which card you are holding.
- Text recognition runs entirely on your device using Apple's Vision framework.
- No photograph is ever saved, and no image from your camera is ever uploaded, transmitted, or shared with us or anyone else.
- The camera is only active while the scanning screen is open. The App does not access your photo library.
Only the recognised number itself (such as "4/102") is used to look up the card.
3. Information Sent Over the Internet
To identify a card and show its picture and price, the App must ask a card database for that information. When you scan or search for a card, the App sends only the card identifier or the name you typed — for example, "Charizard" or "4/102".
- Pokémon TCG API (pokemontcg.io): Provides card details, artwork, and market prices. The App sends the card number or search term. Card artwork is downloaded from this service.
- Graded price lookups: If graded (PSA 10 / CGC 10) pricing is enabled, the App asks our pricing service for the typical listing price of a specific card. It sends only the card name, number and grade — nothing about you or your device beyond what any web request necessarily includes.
These requests contain no name, no account, no device identifier, and no advertising identifier. As with any internet request, the service receiving it can see the originating IP address; we do not log, store, or associate that with you.
4. What We Do NOT Do
- We do not collect personal information.
- We do not use analytics, crash-reporting SDKs, or usage tracking.
- We do not show advertisements, and we contain no advertising SDKs.
- We do not track you across apps or websites, and we do not use the Advertising Identifier (IDFA).
- We do not access your location, contacts, microphone, photo library, calendar, or health data.
- We do not sell, rent, or share information with anyone, because we do not have any.
- We do not sync your collection to iCloud or to any other cloud service.
5. Read-Aloud
Digital Decks can read card details and deck coaching tips aloud so that younger children who cannot yet read can use it. This uses Apple's on-device speech synthesis to produce sound. The App does not use the microphone and does not listen to, record, or process any audio.
6. Children's Privacy (COPPA)
Digital Decks is designed to be used by children, with a parent or guardian's involvement. We take this seriously:
- The App collects no personal information from anyone, including children. There is nothing for us to store, disclose, or delete, because nothing is ever transmitted to us.
- There are no accounts, no messaging, no chat, no user-generated content, no social features, and no way for a child to communicate with anyone through the App.
- There is no advertising and no behavioural profiling.
- Player profile names are typed by you and never leave the device. We recommend using a first name or nickname only.
- The only link that leaves the App is a link to a card marketplace, and it is placed behind a parental gate — a question a young child is not expected to answer — so a child cannot leave the App unintentionally.
If you believe a child has somehow provided personal information through the App, please contact us and we will help, although by design the App provides no mechanism for this to occur.
7. Purchases
Digital Decks is a paid app. The purchase is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see or receive your payment details, billing address, or Apple Account information. The App contains no in-app purchases and no subscriptions.
8. Data Storage and Security
Your collection is stored in the App's private, sandboxed storage on your device, protected by iOS app sandboxing and by your device passcode and encryption. Because the data never leaves your device, there is no server to breach and no cloud copy to expose. All network requests the App does make use encrypted HTTPS connections.
9. Deleting Your Data
You are always in full control:
- Remove a single card from within the App.
- Delete a player profile to remove that player's entire collection and decks.
- Delete the App from your device to remove everything it stored, permanently.
Since we hold no data about you, there is no account to close and no request you need to send us.
10. Third-Party Services
- Pokémon TCG API — card data, artwork, and market pricing. See pokemontcg.io.
- Apple App Store — handles the purchase. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
Digital Decks embeds no third-party analytics, advertising, or social media SDKs of any kind.
11. Changes to This Policy
If we ever change what the App does with information, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above before releasing that change. Meaningful changes affecting children's privacy would be made clear in the App as well.
